VALORANT Mobile is already a hit in China, but the global release is still on hold. Learn why Riot Games is rebuilding the game from scratch for a perfect launch.

The anticipation for VALORANT Mobile has reached a fever pitch as we continue through 2026. VALORANT Mobile launched in August 2025 with an unmatched record-setting launch in China, but since then, all other countries globally have had no choice but to wait for its release. That is why everyone is asking why is VALORANT Mobile is continues facing delays? Let us find out.

The Strategy of VALORANT Mobile for China First Launch

The first and most apparent reason for this delay is that Riot is choosing to focus on this market. With over 50 million monthly active users already engaged in this game on a mobile platform in China, this is a giant test market. They are using this delay to collect data on everything from how well their servers hold up to how well each of their weapons is balanced.

By the time this game is released in the US, Europe, or India, all of the major bugs will already be worked out, giving everyone else a much smoother experience.

Riot is Building VALORANT Mobile for Maximum Optimisation

One of the biggest hurdles is that Riot is not simply “porting” this game; they are rebuilding it. This is because creating a high-speed tactical shooter and translating it to a touchscreen experience means rethinking the interface completely.

Every agent’s ability, such as Jett’s dash or Sova’s recon bolt, has to work intuitively on a small screen. Optimization is also a big part of this project.

They are going to extreme lengths to make this game work on phones with as little as 4 GB of RAM so that a $200 phone can compete with a $1,000 phone.

While the wait may be a long one, all indicators are currently pointing to a Global Beta or a Global Showcase in late-2026. It’s clear that Riot is prioritizing quality over speed to market, at least, in order to redefine the mobile FPS genre rather than simply rushing a game to market. For now, all fans can do is continue to keep an eye on official sources.
