Chahar burst onto the stage of Indian cricket when an incredible haul of 8/10 by him reduced Hyderabad to 21 all out in the 2010/11 season of the Ranji Trophy. However, this success did not catapult him onto the international stage.
For that, the seamer who is adept at swinging the ball had to wait for an opportunity in IPL. It was in 2018 that the right-arm seamer picked up 10 wickets which earned him the attention of the selectors and led to his international debut in both T20 and ODI formats.
One can say with certainty that it was under MS Dhoni’s captaincy that Chahar truly realized his potential. The breakthrough season of 2018 IPL was his first with CSK and he hasn’t looked back since.
