In a recent development, Pakistan Cricket Team captain, Babar Azam, is reported to have sought legal advice regarding the leakage of his private WhatsApp chat with a senior Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official.

Last month, the controversy emerged when an alleged private conversation between Babar Azam and PCB’s Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer was aired on local TV, revealing a strained communication dynamic between the skipper and the board’s management.

Now as per Geo Sports, the leaked chat has prompted Babar Azam to explore potential legal actions to address the breach of his privacy.

Significance of Babar Azam Move

Babar Azam decision to seek legal opinions signifies the gravity of the situation surrounding the leaked WhatsApp chat.

As the then captain of the national cricket team, Babar’s private communications being aired publicly raises concerns not only about individual privacy but also about the relationship dynamics within the cricketing management.

This move reflects Babar’s commitment to addressing the issue through a legal lens, emphasizing the need for confidentiality in internal cricket board communications.

PCB in turmoil! After getting removed as captain, Babar Azam contemplates legal action over leaked WhatsApp chat by Zaka Ashraf

The leaked WhatsApp conversation shed light on the strained relationship between Babar Azam and key PCB officials. The text exchange, which denied calls made by Babar to PCB Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf, fueled speculations of communication gaps and potential dissonance within the cricketing hierarchy.

Babar Azam, who announced he is stepping down from captaincy in all formats on Wednesday, faced not only the challenges on the field but also the complexities of managing relationships off the field, especially with the board officials.

End of Azam’s reign

Shortly after Babar Azam resigned as captain of all three formats, Pakistan named Shan Masood as their Test captain and Shaheen Shah Afridi as their new T20I captain. The PCB has not yet appointed an ODI captain because there are no ODIs planned in the foreseeable future.

Babar was given the choice to remain as Test captain whereas the decision to dismiss him as white-ball skipper was handed to him as a fait accompli, according to a statement released by the PCB shortly after the resignation.
