Dhoni is still a core part of the Chennai franchise in the IPL. In the domestic T20 franchise tournament since it began in 2008, Dhoni has scored 4978 runs in 234 games. Dhoni cemented his reputation as one of the best wicketkeeper-batters to don the Indian shirt by amassing 1617 runs in 85 T20I games with a strike rate of 126.13. Dhoni, is expected to announce his retirement at the conclusion of the 2023 season, bringing about a significant shift to the IPL. Despite the fact that Dhoni hasn’t formally notified Chennai Super Kings (CSK), it is widely believed that he will play his final IPL game at Chepauk Stadium in front of his home crowd. Despite their success in the IPL, CSK had a rather underwhelming last season, finishing second to last with only four victories in their 10 contests. Due to a lower run rate, the Mumbai Indians were the only team below them. While Dhoni looks to conclude his IPL career on a high note by giving CSK their fifth IPL championship, CSK will once more start as the favourites.
