PUBG Mobile Unbanned in Bangladesh
The game was initially banned in 2021 following an order from the High Court, which deemed it “destructive” after hearing a writ petition. Since then, numerous attempts have been made to overturn the ban on KRAFTON’s widely played title. These efforts finally bore fruit in early 2025, culminating in today’s announcement.
The PUBG Mobile community in Bangladesh has reacted with a mix of emotions, predominantly positive. Many express nostalgia for the game’s earlier popularity, while others view the unban as a significant revival for the country’s gaming and esports landscape.

PUBG Mobile previously held immense popularity in Bangladesh and was instrumental in establishing several well-known esports teams. A1 Esports, a leading team in the nation, even represented Bangladesh at the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) in 2020. This promising growth in the South Asian esports scene was unexpectedly halted by the government’s ban.
Following the unban announcement, social media platforms have been flooded with comments reflecting this mixed sentiment. While some users reminisced about past gaming experiences, many others expressed optimism about the resurgence of gaming and esports in Bangladesh.
Despite the official ban in 2021, which the High Court labeled the game as “destructive,” the player base in Bangladesh largely continued to access PUBG Mobile through Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). There were even periods when players could connect to the game without altering their IP addresses, although the matchmaking system often required a VPN connection. Unfortunately, this workaround led to incidents like the arrest of over a hundred players. However, the persistent efforts of the Bangladeshi gaming community have finally paid off, resulting in the official revocation of the PUBG Mobile ban.
