Marathon Patch 1.0.5.3 brings major knife nerfs, Bubble Shield changes, and critical bug fixes to improve balance and gameplay stability.

Bungie has officially rolled out the latest balance and stability patch for its highly anticipated PvEvP extraction shooter, Marathon. Version 1.0.5.3 focuses entirely on polishing the core experience by removing unfair exploits, fixing game-breaking bugs, and making combat significantly more skill-based.

Marathon Patch Update 1.0.5.3 – Complete Highlights

Here is what the most recent Marathon update is bringing:

Major Knife Nerfs

The most significant update in this release is focused on the highly broken melee meta. Knife setups were taking over lobbies because of very lenient targeting and a “snowball” mechanism.

In order to resolve the issue, Bungie cut down the melee lunge range by 10%, lowered the targeting cone size by 20%, and decreased the extra damage dealt against players by half. The concept is clear – turn melee into a tactical choice rather than an automatic kill move, making room for alternative weapon setups.

Bubble Shield Rebalance

The Bubble Shield will also receive an enormous buff/nerf combination, serving as a more focused way to balance the shield. In order to ensure players don’t abuse its use, the shield has been reclassified as a Purple rarity item, as well as losing 33% of its HP. It, however, can no longer be harmed by any Volt weapon and effectively protects against the UESC enemies’ attacks.

Crucial Bug Fixes

Since Marathon is a high-risk extraction shooter, where players can lose the money they have earned, stability is as crucial as balancing weapons. Patch 1.0.5.3 eliminates glitches that hinder game experience, such as the movement glitch with the grappling hook and the extraction glitch from the Cryo Archive.

Overall, this update shows that Bungie is actively listening to community feedback. By acting on overpowered metas and prioritizing fairness, the developers are successfully increasing the game’s skill ceiling and ensuring a healthier competitive environment.
