Responding to the pulse of “Gen O” (the Orange Economy), Fadnavis unveiled a vision that positions Maharashtra as the “Gaming Capital of India.”

- Strategic Location: Situated near the Navi Mumbai International Airport, ensuring global connectivity for international tournaments and visiting creators.
- Infrastructure: A 50-acre site featuring world-class E-sports Arenas, high-end Content Creation Studios, and specialized AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics) Hubs.
- Skill Development: The government has established the Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) to provide structured career pathways in gaming and animation.
- Connectivity: The CM also promised high-speed, “lag-free” internet across the state, with fiber networks already reaching 70% of Maharashtra’s 40,000 villages.
Acknowledging the “Orange Economy”
The Global Esports Games 2026, hosted at the MMRDA Grounds, marks the first time this international championship has come to South Asia. By attending and addressing creators like Mortal (Naman Mathur), Payal Gaming, and Snax, the CM has signaled a major shift in how the government views digital careers.
Fadnavis noted that India’s Orange Economy (the creative sector) is currently valued at approximately $45–50 billion and is expected to soar to $60 billion by 2027. He even shared a personal note, stating that if his daughter chose a career in gaming, she would have his “100% support,” emphasizing that hard work is the only key to success in any modern field.
This move is expected to attract massive private investment and solidify Mumbai’s position as a global tech hub. With the Navi Mumbai Airport set to become a digital-first gateway, the surrounding e-sports city will likely become the “Silicon Valley” for gamers and creators alike.
