Fortnite Director Addresses Feedback with Fortnite February Update: Self-Revives, Shockwaves, and Season 2 Leaks.

The “back to basics” approach for Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 1 might have been a bit too basic for some. After weeks of community chatter regarding a lack of utility and stale gameplay, Epic Games is officially shifting gears.

Ted Timmins, Fortnite’s Creative Director, recently addressed the community’s concerns directly. Spurred by constructive feedback from prominent streamer SypherPK, Timmins acknowledged that while the “reset” of Season 1 was intentional, the team is ready to dial up the chaos.

Fortnite February Update: Mobility and Second Chances

The headline news for players is the return of two fan-favorite items. Timmins “rumored” (read: confirmed) that a mid-season update in February will introduce:

  • Self-Revives: A game-changer for solo and squad play, allowing downed players a chance to get back into the fight without teammate intervention.
  • Shockwave Grenades: Widely considered the gold standard for Fortnite mobility, these will provide the “spice” players have been asking for to navigate the map and initiate builds more aggressively.

Leakers have already spotted in-game assets for these items, suggesting the update is polished and ready for a February rollout.

Timmins was careful to manage expectations, noting that they won’t catch every bug instantly, but emphasized a long-term commitment to a smoother player experience.

Looking Ahead to Fortnite February Update – Season 2

While February brings the immediate “spice,” Timmins teased that Season 2 (launching in March) will be the true destination for major content overhauls.

In the meantime, players can look forward to a “Power Hour” event this weekend, which offers a guaranteed Stick of Truth—a nod to those looking for a power spike before the February patch hits.

“There was always a risk that by simplifying the game… it may start to feel a little too similar to chapters past. The good news is we have a fun update in February to spice things up.” — Ted Timmins, Creative Director
