Such is the tragic affair in Indian Football! Mohammedan SC has been at the center of major controversies off late. And now head coach Andrey Chernyshov has stepped from his post. The Russian took to social media to announce his decision where he claimed that it is not possible to work without receiving a salary for 3 months.
The Black Panthers lie at the bottom of the Indian Super League (ISL) Points Table with 11 points from 17 games. But problems have been lingering at the club for quite a few months. The head coach in his statement put the blame on the club’s management for not fulfilling the terms of his contract.
Andrey Chernyshov blames Mohammedan Management
Andrey Chernyshov has blamed the club management for not paying his salary for 3 months. He claimed that on his contract he has terms that the club should always meet and fulfill the conditions. He further added that he is a high-level professional coach and can’t continue when the club itself fails to fulfill the terms of the contract.
“I am a high-level professional coach. I came to your country to give a good result, but I have a contract that clearly states the conditions that the club must fulfill. As a professional, I cannot work for 3 months without receiving a salary. I will not now talk about the difficulties that we, the players, coaches and staff had to overcome this season. I have never been afraid of difficulties and always came out to you and journalists when you wanted to talk to me. But this cannot continue. I made this decision with tears in my eyes. But all the blame for this lies with the club’s management, which did not fulfill the terms of the contract. I love you and wish you all the best,” Chernyshov wrote on social media.

What exactly has happened with Mohammedan SC
It has been reported over the last couple of months that the players have complained about salary dues. In fact, the players refused to train ahead of their home match against Chennaiyin SC. During this time, Shrachi group, one of the co-investors issued a press release stating that the other investor, i.e. Bunkerhill had been involved in a legal dispute with the club.
Meanwhile, Bunkerhill issued a stern press release a couple of days back claiming that the club has failed to transfer the requisite amount of shares. With 2 investors and a legacy club failing to pay salaries to the players and the head coach, serves as a strong reminder to the depleting condition of Indian football at the very top level.
