The day has finally arrived. The greatest footballer of all time, Lionel Messi, has stepped onto the Indian shores and the entire country is buzzing. Messi’s India tour began before sunrise, and Kolkata was wide awake. Fans gathered outside the airport and near his hotel as early as 3:30 AM, turning the city into a sea of Argentina colours. The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner has already met Shah Rukh Khan and several senior dignitaries in closed-door interactions, ticking off the VIP leg of his packed schedule.
The biggest anticipation was around his appearance at Salt Lake Stadium, where tens of thousands gathered for a once-in-a-lifetime moment. However, the excitement quickly turned into disappointment for many, as Messi left the stadium after just 10-20 minutes, far earlier than expected. Alongside him, fellow Inter Miami players Luis Suarez and Rodrigo de Paul are part of the tour.
