After Kolkata, Hyderabad and Mumbai, Argentine icon Lionel Messi will wrap up his three-day India visit in the national capital with a packed afternoon at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The GOAT tour has enthralled all of India, with lakhs of people going crazy over the greatest footballer of all time. On December 14, we saw a ‘GOATED’ moment when Messi met two icons of India, Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Chhetri.
Now, in his last day in India, the Barcelona legend will be meeting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and perhaps Virat Kohli is also on the bingo card. Messi will be joined by fellow Inter Miami stars Luis Suárez and Rodrigo De Paul for a fan-focused event that includes a celebrity football match, a football clinic, and a felicitation ceremony. The Delhi leg is also expected to feature a high-profile meet-and-greet, though official confirmation is still awaited.
Lionel Messi’s GOAT Tour schedule on December 15
Messi is expected to arrive in Delhi from Mumbai on the morning of Monday, December 15. Before heading to the stadium, Messi may attend a private meet-and-greet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with other top dignitaries, are also expected to be present. The PMO has not made any formal announcement yet, so this remains tentative.
Later in the day, Messi will reach the Arun Jaitley Stadium, where he is expected to meet Virat Kohli, setting up one of those crossover moments social media survives on. Kohli arrived in India two days ago with his family. While Kohli is set to play domestic cricket soon, one would imagine that the local lad has been asked to welcome Messi as well.
