It was a memorable day for DC in WPL 2026, especially for skipper Jemimah Rodrigues, as the team went on to reach their fourth consecutive final on Tuesday. They beat GG in a one-sided battle in Vadodara, by 7 wickets. That means, Delhi will now face Bengaluru in the summit clash on Thursday.
Until now, they have gone on lose three finals, two against MI and one against RCB, but this time it could be a different story, with a few players in ripe form. Laura Wolvaardt has scored close to 250 runs, while Lizelle Lee has 240 to her name. Shafali Verma, despite being inconsistent has managed to score 206.
In the bowling department, Nandani Sharma has shone with 14 wickets, along with Shree Charani with as many scalps. Marizanne Kapp has played her part too. So, all that worked well for the team.
DC vs GG, WPL 2026 Eliminator
As far as the match is concerned, Gujarat Giants went on to put a fighting 168 on the board, with Beth Mooney scoring 62 from 51. But they lost their way in the middle, and could not progress towards 200. Chinelle Henry picked up three for Delhi Capitals, while Nandani bagged two.
Come the chase, contributions came from every batter for DC. Lee gave a rousing start to the team, scoring 43 from 24, followed by 31 from 21 by Shafali. The proceedings were completed by Jemimah and Wolvaardt (32).
Road to final
But the road to their qualification was nothing short of rocky. Until the last match they weren’t sure of a berth in the playoffs, let alone a spot in the final. They started with two losses against MI and GG. Then they lost versus RCB in the middle, and then against GG again.
