WPL 2025 qualification scenarios: MI, RCB, UPW & GG battle for top 3 finish

One team has qualified, and four teams are still in race. Know the qualification scenarios for WPL 2025 teams.

In the WPL 2025, now the action is shifted to Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium from Bengaluru. The season is getting more interesting now for the teams. The table toppers, Delhi Capitals with 10 points, are the only team that have qualified for the playoffs so far. Meanwhile, the other 4 teams are now battling to make their place in the top 3. WPL’s format is interesting, where the team that finishes on top goes directly to the finals. Meanwhile, the 2nd and 3rd positioned teams battle in the semifinals to play the final match. Let’s look at the points table and scenarios for WPL 2025 qualification.

Qualification scenario for Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians (MI) have three matches left and need to win two to qualify with ten points. If they win all three, they can top the table and go directly to the final. Playing their last two games at home is a bonus. However, if they win against GG and lost against RCB and UPW, then they’ll need a better Net Run Rate (NRR) to qualify.

Qualification scenario for UP Warriorz

After a heavy defeat against Gujarat Giants, the UP Warriorz have slipped to the last position on the table currently but have the same number of points as RCB. Due to the poor runrate, now UPW needs to win all their remaining matches against MI, and RCB to secure a playoff spot, they can’t finish as the table toppers now, that’s for sure. Even, if they win the remaining two games, but also hope for RCB and MI to lose their respective matches.

Qualification scenario for RCB

RCB have a challenging path in the league right now just like the UP Warriorz. They need to win their last two matches against UPW and MI to reach the playoffs. If they finish with only six points, their top-three chances decrease, especially if two of UPW, MI, or GG get to eight points.

Qualification scenario for Gujarat Giants

Gujarat Giants have a slightly better position than RCB and UP Warriorz. They play two more matches and can finish with ten points to confirm their place. For a chance, they need to beat both MI and Delhi Capitals. If they beat only MI or DC, their fate relies on other results. For GG to remain in contention, after winning one match, then they have to beat MI and then hope from the same team to beat UPW vs RCB.
