UP Warriorz are currently at the bottom of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 points table but they won their last game vs MI.

UP Warriorz (UPW) will walk out in a special pink jersey against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Friday. No, it is not any away jersey or a colour added for aesthetics. The franchise has dedicated today’s afternoon WPL match to champion girls’ education in partnership with the non-profit organisation Educate Girls, using the match as a platform to showcase the need for flexible learning pathways for young women across India.

The gesture comes at an interesting moment for Meg Lanning’s side. After three straight defeats, Warriorz revived their campaign with a confident win over the same opponents two nights ago. Now, an afternoon game at the DY Patil Stadium offers them a chance to build momentum and do a rare double over the two-time champions. The only previous afternoon game at the venue produced a 200-plus thriller.

Superb initiative by UP Warriorz

The limited-edition kit, designed in collaboration with artist Harun Robert, has excerpts from handwritten letters by girls associated with Educate Girls. The notes are addressed to their future selves and have been woven into the fabric of the jersey. Open schooling, which allows students to complete Class 10 and 12 without daily attendance, remains the core message.

At UP Warriorz, we believe sport has the power to shape conversations that extend far beyond the game,” said Jinisha Sharma, Director, Capri Sports. “This special match reflects our belief that education should adapt to life, not the other way around. Through our partnership with Educate Girls, we hope to normalise second chances in education and remind every girl that her learning journey does not have to end because life took a different turn.”
