BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla has revealed that a panel of the next office bearers was ready while confirming that he had filed his nomination. The decision has been taken after an informal meeting which was held in New Delhi on September 20 before the BCCI’s Annual General Meeting on September 28. While former Delhi cricketer Mithun Manhas is expected to be the next president, Shukla has reportedly filed his nomination for the position of vice-president.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Shukla claimed that a panel was ready comprising of Manhas for president, himself for vice-president, Devajit Saikia for secretary and Raghuram Bhatt for treasurer. He also said that a decision on nomination of names for the governing council has also been made.
“I have come to file nomination. A panel is ready, with Mithun Manhas for the post of president, me for vice president, Devajit Saikia for secretary, Prabhtej Singh Bhatia for joint secretary and Raghuram Bhatt for treasurer. There is a nomination for the names decided for the governing council. So, a new body is being formed for the next tenure. Good luck to all,” the BCCI VP said.
Polls will take place to elect a new president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary, treasurer, one member of the Apex Council, and two members of the Governing Council. As per ANI, Manhas is currently the sole contender for the post of BCCI president which is currently vacant after Roger Binny stepped down after turning 70 years old. While Saikia is currently the BCCI secretary, Raghuram currently heads the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).
Earlier, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal had dropped a hint claiming that there won’t be any elections.
“The nominations would start and you will get to know who is becoming. I don’t think there will be any elections. It would be done unanimously,” Dhumal said.
