Virender Sehwag's son Aaryavir makes DPL debut; smashes Navdeep Saini for consecutive fours

Recently, Aaryavir Sehwag told InsideSport that he wants to share dressing room with Virat Kohli at RCB.

A cricketer from Delhi, named ‘Sehwag’, is back as an opener. No, he isn’t Virender, but his elder son, Aaryavir, has now officially made his Delhi Premier League (DPL) debut. The 2007-born, who didn’t play any competitive T20 before, represented the Central Delhi Kings (CDK) as he walked out as an opener at the iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Great talent promo shown by Jnr Sehwag

While he didn’t open his account in his father’s style by smashing a pace bowler for a four, he showed aggressive traits that are unsurprisingly in his DNA. Walking in his crease to unsettle the pacers, Aaryavir showed talent that we all know he possesses. Facing Indian pacer Navdeep Saini with the new ball, Aaryavir smashed two consecutive boundaries. The first one was as splendid as they come, as the Jnr Sehwag went over the infield through the off-side.

A little bit overpitched but Sehwag walloped it with a picturesque lofted drive. Then came a shot that showcased his tremendous courage, stepping out to Saini and smashing him through the off side again.

Sehwag opened for Central Delhi, perhaps as a replacement for Yash Dhull, who has left DPL to join the North Delhi Zone at the Duleep Trophy. Recently, the junior Sehwag spoke exclusively to InsideSport, sharing his desire to share a dressing room with Virat Kohli at RCB one day. He was one of the most sought-after players, having racked up Rs 9 lakh at the DPL 2025 auction.

Representing Delhi U-19s in the Cooch Behar Trophy, Aaryavir produced two back-to-back innings that stamped his arrival as a serious talent. First came an unbeaten 200 against Meghalaya, laced with 34 boundaries. The very next day, he went even bigger, taking his tally to 297, falling agonizingly short of a triple century.
