Team India’s veteran batter Virat Kohli makes a record every time he steps on the field. During the 1st ODI between India and New Zealand a couple of days back, with his knock of 93, he became the second-most successful batter ever, as he scaled 28K runs, only behind Sachin Tendulkar. Now, on Wednesday, he went on to become the World No. 1 ODI batter for the 11th time in his career.

He has has reached this mark after a string of some excellent scores in the ODIs. It started with the Sydney ODI vs Australia, where he scored 74, which was followed by 135, 102 and 65 vs South Africa, and only continued vs the Kiwis. Meanwhile, this is the first time after July 2021, that Virat Kohli has occupied the top spot in ODI rankings.
For the record, he has spent 825 days at the helm, the 10th most by any player, and the most by an Indian.

Meanwhile, it might be addressed, that Kohli only took over the top spot from counterpart Rohit Sharma, who fell down two spots to no. 3, while New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell occupied the top spot. In fact, it is a three-way battle between the top-3, as only 10 points separate them. Two more Indians make the top-10; Shubman Gill is at No. 5 followed by Shreyas Iyer at No. 10.
In the ICC bowler’s rankings for ODIs, the top spot is held by Rashid Khan, and Kuldeep Yadav is the best-placed Indian at no.3. Mohammed Siraj, the former World no. 1 is at no. 15 for now.
