Sunday turned out to be an exceptional day for Vidarbha as they went on to lift their first ever Vijay Hazare Trophy after they beat Saurashtra in the final by 38 runs. Their prowess was never in question with the batters and bowlers, both coming up with superlative performances in the season. InsideSport takes a look at the players who hogged the limelight in the final.
Atharva Taide takes match away from opposition
Young Taide chose the perfect match for his maiden ton in the VHT 2025-26. He went on to make 396 runs in 7 matches, including a 128 from 118 in the summit clash. That meant an average of 66 in the entire tournament. That innings was enough to decide the fate of the match and was named POTM.
Aman Mokhade ends with five tons
In the final, Mokhade made 33 runs, but finished the tournament as the highest run-getter. In 10 matches he went on to score 814, runs and averaged a massive 90. What was fascinating is, he had a strike rate of 109. Yes, did not make the biggest contribution in the VHT final, but he ended up winning the Player of the Tournament.
Nachiket Bhute & Yash Thakur work in tandem
Somehow, the bowlers don’t get enough credit, but Bhute and Thakur worked well together and ended up picking 18 and 19 wickets, respectively. Not to forget Darshan Nalkande played only five matches and yet picked up 14 scalps. That is bulk of the wickets for Vidarbha in the tournament, and their consistency played a major role in landing them the title.
