The quarterfinals for the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) are set. Karnataka had already qualified even before their last group stage match against Madhya Pradesh, who were in the running as well.
Karnataka lost their first match of the tournament to MP, who won with 7 wickets in hand and 26.4 overs to spare. Kerala and Jharkhand were in the running to claim the second spot from Group A, but both lost their matches, and MP edged them out.
Like Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh had already qualified for the quarterfinals from Group B with 6 wins. However, they weren’t complacent against Bengal, who, along with Vidarbha and Baroda, were well placed to reach the knockout stage. Bengal were knocked out the moment they lost to UP. In the end, Vidarbha beat Assam by 160 runs and qualified over Baroda, who defeated Chandigarh by 147 runs, owing to their superior net run rate.
Punjab and Mumbai had already qualified from Group C. The top teams faced off against each other, with Punjab eking out a 1-run win. Sarfaraz Khan smashed the fastest List A fifty by an Indian, but Mumbai lost their last 6 wickets for just 24 runs while chasing 217.
Delhi, Saurashtra, and Haryana were all in the running to qualify from Group A. All were within four points. Delhi beat Haryana by 9 wickets, knocking them out and sealing the top spot. Saurashtra utterly dominated Gujarat and qualified as well. Delhi hasn’t been to the next stage of VHT in the last 5 years, and the return of players like Rishabh Pant, Nitish Rana, and Virat Kohli has certainly helped them.
