"Varun Chakravarthy meant for greatness, hats off to Rohit Sharma's captaincy": Sreesanth

Sreesanth said that Varun Chakravarthy proved that he wasn't just a T20 bowler with his spell against New Zealand in Champions Trophy

Former Indian pacer Sreesanth heaped praise on Varun Chakravarthy after his match-winning spell against New Zealand in Champions Trophy. The Tamil Nadu spinner bagged a five-wicket haul in just his 2nd ODI, finishing with figures of 5/42. Sreesanth also hailed Rohit Sharma’s tactics as captain, noting that India were now just two steps away from lifting the Trophy.

“Chakravarthy not just T20 bowler”

Speaking to news agency ANI, Sreesanth said that Varun had proved with his bowling against the Kiwis that he wasn’t just a T20 bowler. Chakravarthy was added to India’s Champions Trophy squad in the last minute as a mystery spinner component in the side. In his very first game of the tournament on Sunday, he impressed with his variations, making it hard for the New Zealand batters to pick him.

The way Varun bowled, he proved that he is not just a T20 bowler, but is meant for greatness. It is such an inspirational story and really nice to see that,” Sreesanth said.
