Catch the unsold playing XI for the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 player auction.

The WPL 2026 mega auction in Delhi had plenty of drama, big buys and bold decisions, but the biggest shock of the night was the list of top players who went unsold. Fans were stunned when Australia’s Alyssa Healy, one of the biggest names in women’s cricket, received no bids despite being the first player called in the auction. Several other experienced internationals also walked away without a team as franchises focused heavily on all-rounders.

A total of 67 players were sold for Rs 40.8 crore. While the BCCI might be pondering adding one more WPL team, as of now, several talents failed to get into the squads of any of the five WPL teams. A total of 84 players are part of the new WPL cycle but the players mentioned below are way too good to miss out. In fact, the group of unsold players is strong enough to form a competitive playing XI on its own. Here is the Unsold Playing XI for the WPL 2026 Mega Auction, led by Alyssa Healy at the top.

Healy headlines with Athapaththu

First up, Alyssa Healy. Yes, that Alyssa Healy. The Australian wicketkeeper with over 7,000 T20 runs, six centuries, 40-plus fifties, and nearly 245 dismissals (the most ever by anyone). The woman who has dominated world tournaments and WBBL with ridiculous consistency. She’s played 383 T20 matches. She’s won as many as eight Women’s World Cups. That is some resume for a player who received no paddle!

Right behind her, India’s Vrinda Dinesh. At the domestic level, she averages 40 and has a high score of 118 not out, but the WPL wasn’t kind. She battled injuries and limited opportunities, and teams didn’t bite. Her talent is real, though. The numbers don’t lie as she strikes at over 120 in WT20s.

Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu is another jaw-dropper. A global T20 superstar, with over 3,400 international T20 runs, 63 wickets, and a strike rate over 110. She dragged Sri Lanka single-handedly through countless matches and yet walked away unsold. She went unsold in the first-ever WPL auction as well in 2023 before UPW signed her as a replacement player. S Meghana, who has played for India and was part of RCB’s title-winning squad in 2024, has 1,500-plus T20 runs and went unsold.

World Cup winner Uma Chetry & Indian capped players go unsold

India’s young keeper Uma Chetry, the reliable domestic trio of Priya Mishra, Saima Thakor and Tejal Hasbanis, and former Mumbai Indians all-rounder Amandeep Kaur round out this team. If someone gave them a franchise tomorrow, they’d compete. They all have great talent, with Chetry also being part of India’s squad at the recent ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. She was the backup keeper after Yastika Bhatia got ruled out of the tournament.

It is quite bewildering to see Priya Mishra go unsold. Teams like DC could have had her, as they don’t have any wrist spinners. Mishra is a leg-spinner who took 6 wickets for GG in WPL 2025 and has 15 wickets in 9 W-ODIs for India too. Saima, who previously played for UPW, has competed in 10 W-ODIs and a W-T20I for India. Meanwhile, Tejal Hasbanis has an international half-century to her name.

And then there are Alana King and Darcie Brown. King is a world-class leg-spinner with over 130 wickets and had a marvellous ODI World Cup in India and Sri Lanka too. Brown is one of the fastest young quicks in the women’s game, with 34 WT20I wickets already. In WBBL, Brown has a great record of 66 wickets at an economy of 6.30. Both, unbelievably, went unsold.
