Top Players Retained
Before the third edition of the Women’s Premier League, franchises chose to retain their core group. WPL 2025 Retention offered a glimpse into the franchises’ mindset. With a mega auction set to take place in 2026, franchises wanted to retain most of the players. As a result, teams opted to retain 71 players in all with only 19 slots to fill at the WPL Auction 2025, which is scheduled for December 15 in Bengaluru.
The mini-auction will provide an opportunity for the camps to fill in the gaps with a maximum of 14 Indian players and 5 overseas players. To ensure they can fill up all the slots, camps have enough money, as the collective purse available for all teams stands at Rs 16.7 crore, with each franchise allowed to spend up to Rs 15 crore on their squad. See all the marquee details ahead of this crucial WPL 2025 mini-auction.
