With the T20 World Cup 2026 starting on February 7, the ICC has set January 7 as the deadline for squad submission. However, teams can still make changes to their squads until a week before the tournament begins, i.e. February 1. Teams can still make changes to their squads in case of any late injury. But for that, ICC’s technical committee must approve the changes.
So far, hosts India are the only nation to submit their squad for the T20 World Cup 2026, while co-hosts Sri Lanka have announced their preliminary squad.
The T20 World Cup 2026 will have 20 teams fighting for the title, with five teams each in four groups. The top two teams from each group will qualify from the group stage to the Super 8. The Super 8 stage will be divided into two groups of four each. The top two teams from Super 8 groups will qualify for the semifinals.
Hosts India are in Group A alongside arch-rivals Pakistan, USA, Namibia and the Netherlands. Group B comprises co-hosts Sri Lanka, Australia, Zimbabwe, Ireland and Oman. In Group C, former champions England and West Indies will battle against two newbies, Nepal and Italy. Group D comprises last edition’s runners-up South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan, UAE and Canada.
