The England Cricket Team is 2-0 down in the ongoing IND vs ENG T20I series. A tough job awaits the Three Lions as they desperately need a win in the third encounter at Rajkot. This game will be the last opportunity for the visitors to save the series. A loss will ensure India wraps up the 5-match series. Veteran English pacer Mark Wood claimed England has three chances to win in the remaining three games of the T20I series.
Jamie Smith made his T20I debut for the Three Lions at Chennai as Jacob Bethell missed the game with an illness. The 24-year-old batter managed to score 22 runs from 12 deliveries and was retained in the team. England released an unchanged Playing XI from the second game at Rajkot.
Mark Wood continues to be positive about England’s chances
“You’ve got to believe, haven’t you. It’s no good sitting there saying ‘that’s it’. There are three games to play, three chances of a win,” said England fast bowler Mark Wood.
Mark Wood made a return to the squad after recovering from a stress fracture on his elbow, It has not been a good outing for a 35-year-old pacer who managed to scalp just 1 wicket in the 2 games thus far. Adding more concerns is his high economy which is around 8.83 per over.
“I’ve felt a little bit ‘hitty-missy’. I’ve done a couple of good things, it’s great that my pace is up there, but maybe my accuracy at time hasn’t been quite where I wanted it. When I haven’t played since August, that’s pretty much expected. Hopefully the more I play, the better I get,” Wood concluded.
