There was no mutual trust: Former spinner reveals why RCB has failed to win IPL
Shadab Jakati, who has represented both CSK and RCB in the IPL, revealed that the Bengaluru-based franchise focused on 2-3 players only.

Former RCB spinner Shadab Jakati has pointed out two key reasons for Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) inability to win the IPL title in 17 seasons: over-reliance on a few players and a lack of camaraderie among teammates. Despite being a part of the league since its inception, RCB is still chasing its maiden IPL trophy. They enter the upcoming season with renewed hopes under their new captain, Rajat Patidar.

RCB focused on 2-3 players: Shadab Jakati

Jakati, who won two IPL titles with Chennai Super Kings before joining RCB, highlighted the contrasting approaches of the two franchises both on and off the field. He featured in just one match for RCB during the 2014 season, when Virat Kohli served as the team’s captain and former New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori was the head coach.

It’s a team game. If you want to win trophies, the team needs to play like a unit. 2-3 players cannot help you win the trophy. Chennai had a strong group of Indian players and some decent foreign players. It is important to get your combination. When I was in RCB, they would focus on 2-3 players only,” Jakati told Sportskeeda.

Jakati then also spoke about the dressing room atmosphere stating that the team didn’t gel well as an unit.

There was a huge difference as far as team management and dressing room atmosphere is concerned. Players were very good, but there was no camaraderie; the players did not gel properly,” Jakati added.
