We are in touching distance of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, and once again, India walk into the tournament as one of the outright favourites. Form is on their side, depth is not an issue, and unlike previous cycles, there is very little uncertainty around roles. With a win-loss ratio of 5.1, the Men in Blue hunt to become the first-ever team to win a T20 World Cup at home, first team to win it thrice and also the maiden defending champions. The next best full-member nation with a W/L ratio is Australia at 2.4.
All India T20 World Cup jerseys
India’s T20 World Cup jerseys have become a timeline of the team’s journey in the shortest format. From the no-frills light blue of 2007 to the sharper, sponsor-heavy kits of recent editions, each jersey is tied to a specific phase in Indian cricket. Some are associated with glory, some with near misses, and a few with tournaments India would rather forget. Ahead of the 2026 World Cup, here’s a look at every jersey India have worn across T20 World Cups and the stories that came with them.
ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2007

Every World Cup-winning kit is special. But perhaps the 2007 T20 World Cup one is extra special, as it was something fresh. A minimalist, pale sky-blue shade (lighter than later versions). It featured “INDIA” printed in a bold, orange font across the chest. The key design element was a tricolour strip running down the right side of the torso.
India can do with bringing back the light theme once again sometime in the future just to give a nod to the epic 2007 kit.
ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2009

A massive shift to a darker shade of blue. This jersey featured an orange collar and a distinct tricolour “belt” or strip pattern on the side. The “INDIA” font was also updated. It was a bad campaign in England, where India failed to win a single game in the Super 8s stage.
ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2010
Visually very similar to the 2009 edition, retaining the deeper blue color and the orange collar. It was essentially an evolution of the previous year’s kit with minor tweaks in fabric tone.
ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2012
Interestingly, India wore the 2011 ODI World Cup jersey for this tournament. Although a new T20-specific kit (featuring a modern aesthetic) was unveiled before the tournament, the BCCI and team decided to stick with the 2011 ODI kit (dark blue with tricolour stripes on the shoulders) as it was considered a “lucky charm” after the World Cup win. However, nothing much changed as India bowed out of Super 8s for the third edition in a row.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2014
A return to a slightly lighter blue. The standout feature was a tri-color graphical pattern on the shoulders, giving it a modern and aggressive look. The entire jersey was just simple and plain apart from the shoulder patch work. India made it to the finals here, but lost the summit clash to Sri Lanka.
ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2016
A bold and unique design featuring a reddish-orange wave or curve sweeping across the chest and torso against a blue background. Also, for the first time, India didn’t have a polo collar design. It was a home T20 World Cup for India, where Virat Kohli once again did the heavy lifting before the West Indies knocked out India.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021
Known as the “Billion Cheers Jersey”. It was a dark navy blue with a zigzag/soundwave pattern across the front, which was said to be inspired by the cheers of fans. However, it was too dark in colour and never came back. At the T20 World Cup 2021, India bowed out of the tournament within group stage fixtures only.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022
The T20 World Cup 2022 had one of the freshest jerseys. A “Sky Blue” jersey that moved away from the navy tones of 2021. It featured a textured pattern on the chest and slightly darker blue sleeves. That particular jersey just shouts Virat Kohli vs Pakistan at the MCG! India lost the semi-final clash against eventual champions England in this edition.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024
The first T20 World Cup kit designed by Adidas. It featured a distinct V-neck with the Indian tri-color, saffron (orange) sleeves with the iconic three white Adidas stripes, and a blue torso. It brought huge luck as India ended their 11-year drought to win a major ICC trophy! Rohit Sharma’s men stamped India’s flag in Barbados.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026
Recently unveiled for the tournament co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The new Adidas kit features “Climacool+” technology with bold shoulder stripes and a tricolour collar. It proudly displays two stars above the BCCI logo, symbolising India’s two T20 World Cup victories (2007 & 2024).
