Snubbed from Asia Cup 2025, Prasidh Krishna to turn out for Karnataka in KSCA tournament

Prasidh Krishna could feature for Karnataka in the Dr. Capt. K Thimmapaiah memorial tournament after being snubbed from the Asia Cup 2025 squad

While India’s T20 squad prepares for the Asia Cup 2025, Prasidh Krishna will return to red ball cricket with Karnataka. The 29-year-old was ignored from the Asia Cup squad despite finishing as the leading wicket taker in IPL 2025. With the India vs West Indies Tests also on the horizon, Krishna will play in the invitational Dr. Capt. K Thimmapaiah memorial tournament.

Prasidh Krishna gears up for red ball stint

Prasidh Krishna has been named in Karnataka’s squad for the Dr. Capt. K Thimmapaiah memorial tournament which kicks off on Thursday. The 29-year-old is among several regular Ranji Trophy players to play in the tournament, aiming to get some game time under their belt ahead of the competition. Krishna’s involvement comes after he was only named among reserves for India’s Asia Cup squad.

Krishna played 3 of the 5 Tests in the India vs England series, but revealed that he was exhausted after the tour. In a recent interview with ESPNCricinfo, Krishna said, “I did take a week to ten days off. Even when I was on a break, I could actually feel my body hurting. I was still sore from that last Test and the three hard days during the vacation. On the fourth day, I told myself, ‘I’m not going to do anything’. I let my wife go on her hiking trip. I stayed back for a day, and actually felt my body recover a little bit more.”

Krishna did feature in the KSCA Maharaja T20 for Mysuru Warriors. He is not part of the Duleep Trophy squad for South Zone either. He attended the BCCI training camp in the Centre of Excellence and will now play for Karnataka in the invitional tournament.

The Dr. Capt. K Thimmapaiah memorial tournament will feature 16 teams, including the likes of Gujarat, Mumbai, Baroda and Madhya Pradesh. Krishna will naturally lead the attack, featuring Vidwath Kaverappa and Shreyas Gopal.
