Haris Rauf was the last Pakistani cricketer to win the ICC 'Player of the Month' award, back in November 2024.

The Pakistan cricket team opener Sahibzada Farhan has been named ‘Player of the Month’ for February 2026. Earlier today, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced Farhan as the winner over England’s Will Jacks and USA’s Shadley van Schalwyk for his T20 World Cup 2026 exploits.

Sahibzada Farhan’s record-breaking run

Although Pakistan was eliminated from the Super 8 stage of the tournament, Farhan emerged as a major positive. He attained a career-high ranking in T20I after becoming the first cricketer to register multiple hundreds in a single edition of the T20 World Cup.

In the process, he recorded the highest-ever partnership in the tournament’s history, 176 runs, with fellow opener Fakhar Zaman. Farhan also went past Virat Kohli’s tally of 319 runs, the highest in a single edition of the T20 World Cup, by a whopping 64 runs.

“It’s an incredible feeling to win this ICC award, especially for performances on the World Cup stage, where fans from all over the world are watching every moment. That makes it even more special. It was truly a tournament I’ll always cherish, and I’m determined to carry this momentum forward in the series and competitions ahead. I’m deeply grateful to my teammates for their constant support and belief in me – this wouldn’t have been possible without them,” Farhan told ICC.

Following Farhan’s golden run, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) awarded the 29-year-old his maiden ODI call-up. He featured in the 3-match series against Bangladesh away from home, but things didn’t go his way. Farhan ended with an abysmally low average of 21.33 and a strike rate of just 71.91. Pakistan also lost the series 1-2 despite Salman Ali Agha and Haris Rauf’s impressive performances.
