Rohit Sharma & Harmanpreet Kaur recieve huge honours
Rohit Sharma was conferred with the Padma Shri following a highly successful stint as India’s captain. Under his leadership, India won the T20 World Cup in 2024 and the Champions Trophy in 2025, while also finishing runners-up in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Rohit retired from T20 internationals after the World Cup triumph and stepped away from Test cricket after the 2024–25 Australia tour, though he remains focused on India’s campaign at the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Harmanpreet Kaur was also honoured with the Padma Shri after leading India to their first-ever ICC Women’s World Cup title last year. The 36-year-old captained the side through a difficult campaign, guiding the team past Australia in the semi-final and South Africa in the final to script a historic achievement for Indian women’s cricket. Harmanpreet, who made her international debut in 2009, had earlier received the Arjuna Award in 2017.
Among other notable names, former Indian tennis star Vijay Amritraj was conferred with the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian honour.
