Tamil Nadu keeper N Jagadeesan is all set travel to UK to join with the India squad for the IND vs ENG 5th Test. The 27-year-old was handed a call up after Rishabh Pant’s series ending injury in Manchester. With Ishan Kishan not considered, BCCI sent SOS to the TN star to cover the final Test of the Anderson Tendulkar Trophy at the Oval.
N Jagadeesan to fly to London on Sunday ahead of 5th Test
Jagadeesan has enjoyed a resurgence in the domestic circuit, scoring truckload of runs for Tamil Nadu in the middle order. He went unsold in the recent IPL Auction, but has had stints with Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. As per TOI, the 27-year-old will leave for UK on Sunday morning. India play the 5th Test at The Oval in London.
Jagadeesan is unlikely to make his debut with Dhruv Jurel in the mix of things. Jurel has kept in Pant’s injury absence at Lord’s and at Old Trafford. He is likely to feature in the IND vs ENG 5th Test. India rate Jurel highly and he was deputy to Abhimanyu Easwaran during the A tour.
Regardless it is a significant reward for Jagadeesan who has leapfrogged significant competition to make the cut. The TN ace was picked ahead of the likes of Ishan Kishan and Upendra Yadav. KL Rahul, who is part of the Indian squad, has also kept wickets in the past.
