The fifth round of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 is about to come to an end, and a host of teams/players came up with notable performances. InsideSport takes a look at some of the best, that were produced on Tuesday.
Delhi in trouble against Rajasthan
Rajastjan skipper Mahipal Lomror came up with an unbeaten 128 to take his team to 570 in the first innings vs Delhi. But when it came to Delhi’s batting, their batters failed big time, to be bundled out for 296 only. Arpit Rana, Vaibhav Kandpal and Pranav did come up with fifties, but of course that wasn’t enough for the team. That means, most likely, Rajasthan will get the points, on the basis of first innings lead.
Abdul Samad slams first ton of season
After scoring 76 and 85 in this Ranji season, J&K batter Abdul Samad hit gold, as he slammed his seventh FC century, first this year. In the match against Hyderabad, he went on to score 125 from 200 deliveries, which helped them set a target of 472. At stumps, HYD are placed at 169/7 with Abid Mushtaq picking four wickets.
Mumbai on verge of victory
Mumbai is just too good a side for Pondicherry. After scoring 630 in the first innings, the bowlers did their job and restricted the opposition to only 132. Shardul Thakur and Tanush Kotian picked three wickets each. Come the second innings, it was an improved batting show by Pondicherry, but they are still 231/6, and trail by 267 runs. Mumbai look certain to win.
Rinku Singh 98 not out
India T20I specialist Rinku Singh is slowly showing, that he is ready for the longer format as well. The southpaw batter who averages 58 in FC cricket, is 98 not out in the UP vs TN match, after having scored 165 vs Andhra in October. In reply of TN’s 455, Rinku has taken his side to 339/6.
