Rajasthan Royals (RR) are actively exploring to move out from the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur ahead of IPL 2026, as per reports. The move comes after a Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) official allegedly accused the team of match-fixing in the previous season, which the franchise had promptly denied. RR are reportedly open to shift their home base to Pune for the next season.
After RCB, RR want to host games in Pune
As per Cricbuzz, RR are keen to host their home games at the MCA Stadium in Gahunje, Pune in the upcoming edition of the IPL. Incidentally, it was also reported earlier that RCB, who are uncertain about their home ground Chinnaswamy stadium hosting matches in IPL 2026, had also approached the same venue to host their home games in the next season. As per the report, the BCCI will have the final say in the matter while the Maharashtra Cricket Association must first confirm its readiness to host the franchise.
“Yes, they were here to find out details about the capacity of the stadium, the nature of the pitches and hotels in the city. Our president, Mr. Rohit Pawar, is very keen that the IPL returns to the city. He is making all possible efforts,” an MCA official said.
As per the report, an operations team from RR was in Pune recently to assess the stadium, connectivity to the airport and other logistical issues. The report claims that if the relocation is successful, then RR will play at least four games in Pune while three other games will be held in their second home ground – Guwahati. The report adds that preliminary discussions have already taken place between RR and the MCA over the matter.
The report states that the MCA is deliberating on whether to accept RCB’s proposal while RR management has sent an email seeking confirmation. The report adds that RR are willing to pen an agreement with the MCA even as RCB are yet to make their decision.
