South Africa cricket team opener Quinton de Kock has created history as he has now scored the most centuries against India in ODIs by a Proteas star. The southpaw achieved the rare feat in the IND vs SA 3rd ODI in Visakhapatnam on Saturday as he breached the triple-figure mark in 80 deliveries. The century against the Men in Blue on Saturday marks his 7th against the team in the 50-over format of the game. Follow IND vs SA 3rd ODI LIVE here.
de Kock creates history for SA vs India
de Kock has played 23 ODIs against India in which he had scored 6 centuries and 3 fifties prior to the IND vs SA 3rd ODI. His 80-ball ton in Vizag was studded with 8 fours and 6 sixes and he breached the triple-figure mark in style with a maximum. The century marks de Kock’s second since he came back from retirement earlier this year, having score one against Pakistan earlier in November.
de Kock had a blistering start to his ODI career against India as he slammed three back-to-back centuries in the first three games that he played against the Men in Blue way back in 2013. He then followed it up with a couple of more centuries in the year 2015. de Kock’s last century against India before the one in IND vs SA 3rd ODI came in 2022, where he scored 124 runs in Cape Town.
Interestingly, only 3 out of his 7 centuries against the Men in Blue have come while he has played in India. Overall, de Kock has scored 1186 runs against India in 23 ODIs and averages 53.90.
