Shubman Gill played his last List-A match against Australia in Sydney back in October 2025.

This season’s Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) feels different. The hype is palpable ever since Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma played the first two fixtures and thrilled fans. While their matches weren’t streamed live, fans backed their superstars and slept well knowing that they are in red-hot form. Now, January 3 was supposed to see the return of Shubman Gill, who was set to turn up in the Punjab vs Sikkim game in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Will Shubman Gill’s VHT be live streamed?

The Indian ODI captain played his last Vijay Hazare Trophy match back in the 2018 season, where he made 418 runs at an average of 59.71 in 7 games for Punjab. Now, he returns in the 2025/26 season and will play alongside the likes of Abhishek Sharma, Naman Dhir and also Arshdeep Singh. However, Gill is not playing the Punjab vs Sikkim match. While Arshdeep Singh is part of the playing XI, Gill isn’t but is likely to play the next match, where Punjab face Goa on January 7.

Unfortunately, Shubman Gill’s return in VHT won’t be telecasted or streamed live by the BCCI. You can only follow the live score update on the BCCI website, app or catch this space for InsideSport’s live blog.

No fans allowed in Punjab vs Sikkim match

Just like the Delhi matches at the BCCI’s CoE were played behind closed doors, the Punjab vs Sikkim match at the Jaipuria Cricket College Ground won’t allow spectators in the stands. Hence, there’s possibly no way for fans to watch Arshdeep in the Punjab vs Sikkim affair on Saturday. Only the college staff and people associated with the college will be allowed inside the premises.

“The students and staff are allowed inside the premises but there will be enough security arrangements including private bouncers being deployed. In any case, no outsiders will be allowed inside the college premises.” a source told PTI.

Both Gill and Arshdeep were supposed to reach the venue by Friday evening. However, due to some weather conditions, their flights got delayed and they reached by night, missing the training with the team on the matchday eve. Interestingly, Rohit Sharma also played against Sikkim and he walloped a dominant 155 off 94 earlier in this tournament.
