GT have played two matches already and have lost both; something has not clicked for them. All this will have to change, when they take on DC on Wednesday, in Delhi, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. In the last match, they missed their skipper Shubman Gill, who perhaps had a spasm, but they would be hoping, that he makes a comeback.
One of the factors, which could be attributed to their initial failure is, them not cracking a perfect XI. They do have a few players in the XI, who could/should be replaced at the soonest. Insidesport takes a look at the GT predicted XI vs DC.
Shubman Gill comes back, if not, get Buttler on top
In the last match, Shubman Gill was not available, and Rashid Khan led in his absence. The Indian must be eager to make a comeback. but in case Gill is still rested, Jos Buttler should be brought at the top with Sai Sudharsan. Yes, the English batter is battling poor form for long, but all that could very soon, if Buttler gets going. But Gill is of course the preferred opener.
In the only match he played so far, he scored 39 vs PBKS.
Get rid of Rahul Tewatia, Shahrukh Khan
When the stakes are really high, in a tournament like IPL, one should not always listen to the heart. Rahul Tewatia has been a strong performer over the years, but having him in the XI, isn’t helping GT for now. Although an all-rounder, he has not picked up a wicket since 2021. In batting, last year he scored 99. So they should instead get in Sai Kishore, who they have been benching so far.
In the last season, he had 19 wickets in 15 matches. Similarly, Shahrukh Khan hasn’t been the most impressive. In two matches, he has 15 runs. They can get Jason Holder too, who can bat well.
