Parshavi Chopra

Parshavi Chopra, born on May 10, 2006, in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, is a promising young cricketer who has quickly gained attention for her all-round abilities. Standing at 5 feet 4 inches, she is known for her right-arm legbreak bowling and right-handed batting, making her a versatile player in both domestic and international cricket.

Coming from a cricketing family, Parshavi was inspired by her father, Gaurav Chopra, and her grandfather, both of whom have a rich history in the sport. Although she initially pursued skating and even won a silver medal at the Uttar Pradesh U-14 skating tournament, she shifted her focus to cricket at the age of ten. She joined the Yuvraj Singh Center of Excellence, where her journey as a cricketer truly began.

Parshavi gained national recognition for her outstanding performances with the India Under-19 women’s cricket team, especially during the inaugural ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa in early 2023. She emerged as the team’s highest wicket-taker, claiming 11 wickets at an economy rate of 3.66 and an impressive strike rate of 11.4.

Her remarkable rise in the cricketing world led to her selection by the UP Warriorz in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) in 2023, where she was bought for ₹10 lakh. She played four matches for the team, taking three wickets, with her best bowling performance being 2/29.

Parshavi’s playing style as a legbreak bowler is characterized by her ability to generate sharp turn and deliver deceptive balls, making her a strong asset in limited-overs cricket. In addition, her right-handed batting strengthens her all-rounder role, contributing valuable runs when needed.

Beyond her cricket career, Parshavi enjoys traveling and maintaining a disciplined fitness routine. Her strong work ethic and family support, including from her parents Gaurav and Sheetal Chopra, and her brother Raghav, have played a key role in her success.

With her talent and dedication, Parshavi Chopra is a player to watch as she continues to rise in the world of women’s cricket.
