Lea Tahuhu

Lea-Marie Maureen Tahuhu, born on September 23, 1990, in Christchurch, New Zealand, is a distinguished cricketer known for her right-arm fast bowling and right-handed batting. She has been an essential part of the New Zealand women’s cricket team, the White Ferns, since making her international debut in 2011.

Growing up in Christchurch, Tahuhu attended Aranui High School and quickly became recognized for her talent in cricket. Her domestic career began with Canterbury, where she established herself as a reliable fast bowler. Over time, she also represented various teams in prominent leagues, including the Melbourne Renegades in Australia’s Women’s Big Bash League and the Surrey Stars in the Women’s Cricket Super League in England.

In 2017, Tahuhu earned a spot in the ICC Women’s T20I Team of the Year, showcasing her growing stature in international cricket. After taking a break from the sport due to health concerns in 2019, she made an impressive comeback in August 2021, marking her return with a remarkable five-wicket haul against England. She was also a key figure in New Zealand’s squad for both the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup and the 2022 Commonwealth Games, contributing significantly to the team’s efforts in both tournaments.

Tahuhu is married to fellow cricketer Amy Satterthwaite, and the couple welcomed their daughter, Grace Marie, in January 2020.

As of 2024, Tahuhu remains a vital component of the White Ferns, continuing to showcase her skill, leadership, and experience in international cricket, making her one of New Zealand’s most respected cricketers.
