The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to handsomely reward the Pakistan Shaheens, or ‘A’ team, for beating Bangladesh in a Super Over and winning the 2025 Asia Cup Rising Stars.
PCB awards Pakistan ‘A’ for winning the Asia Cup Rising Stars
According to former Pakistan captain Salman Butt, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has decided to award a PKR 50 lakh (INR 15.96 lakh) cash prize to each member of the Pakistan ‘A’ squad, which would amount to PKR 7.50 crore (INR 2.39 crore) in total.
Naqvi was present at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha to witness the final and met with the player soon after. He was even present at the podium to hand over the Asia Cup Rising Stars trophy to Pakistan ‘A’ captain Irfan Khan Niazi.
Pakistan ‘A’ were unbeaten in the Asia Cup Rising Stars. They beat Oman, India A and the UAE in the group stage. The India win was especially special due to the history between the two teams. Also, they chased the target down with 8 wickets in hand and 40 balls remaining.
The Shaheen beat Sri Lanka A in the semifinal, a match which went to the last ball. Something similar happened in the final, where Bangladesh A took them to the Super Over but couldn’t land the finishing blow as Ahmed Daniyal put on a bowling masterclass.
