A new problem has emerged because of the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan and Dubai. According to reports, India is unhappy about having ‘Pakistan’ written on the team’s jersey. India will play their games in Dubai, but Pakistan is still the main host for the tournament. Even though a plan was made to allow the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to agree to let India play in Dubai instead of Pakistan, the issue with the jersey name has started a new argument.
Politics in cicket
A person from PCB told the news that the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) is mixing politics with cricket because they don’t want ‘Pakistan’ on Team India’s jerseys. Earlier, the Indian board also did not send their captain, Rohit Sharma, to Pakistan for a special event before the tournament started. The PCB feels the ICC should support them in this matter.
“BCCI is bringing politics into cricket, which is not at all good for the game. They refused to travel to Pakistan. They don’t want to send their captain (to Pakistan) for the opening ceremony, now there are reports that they don’t want the host nation’s (Pakistan) name printed on their jersey. We believe that the world governing body (ICC) will not let this happen and support Pakistan,” the PCB official, on condition of anonymity, told new agency IANS.

Clarification from ICC
According to ICC sources, every participating team must feature the tournament’s official logo, which includes the host nation’s name, on their kits. “It is mandatory for each team to incorporate the tournament logo on their jerseys. All teams are required to adhere to this regulation,” an ICC source explained.
Agreement and Concerns
The BCCI did not change its decision to not send Team India to Pakistan. The PCB tried hard to change their mind, but finally, they had to agree with India. However, because of this, in the future, the PCB might not send its team to India for ICC events either. With the Champions Trophy starting soon, new issues are continuing to appear in the news.
No name during the Asia Cup
When the Asia Cup was hosted in Pakistan, India played all their games in Sri Lanka. Despite having Pakistan as the hosts, the Indian team didn’t have the hosts’ names on their jerseys. We might see something similar in the Champions Trophy.
