If finishing the Champions Trophy 2025 winless wasn’t enough, the Pakistan cricket team is about to be dragged to the Parliament. As per reports, Rizwan and co’s dismal performance in the marquee event will be raised in the parliament, with PM Shehbaz Sharif set to “personally take notice” of the debacle. Despite being the host nation, Pakistan failed to win even a single game at the ICC event.
Pakistan’s Champions Trophy debacle to reach parliament
As per IANS, Pakistan PM’s aide Rana Sanaullah said that not only will Sharif take notice of the team’s performance but will also be urged to raise the issue in the parliament. Pakistan’s final group stage game against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi was washed out on Thursday, bringing the curtains down on their miserable campaign. The Champions Trophy marked the return of an ICC event to Pakistan for the first time in 29 years.
“The Prime Minister will personally take notice, and we will also ask him to raise these cricket-related issues in the cabinet as well as in the parliament,” Rana Sanaullah said

Meanwhile, Pakistan captain Rizwan and assistant coach Mahmood blamed injuries and the pressure of facing arch-rivals India for their flop show in CT 2025. The hosts lost their tournament opener to New Zealand by 60 runs. They were then handed a 6-wicket thrashing at the hands of the Men in Blue in Dubai. They were knocked out of CT 2025 the very next day when the Kiwis beat Bangladesh.
Following the debacle, heads are expected to roll as usual in Pakistan. Reports suggest that the PCB could sack interim coach Aaqib Javed.
