The drama between the Pakistan cricket team and Bangladesh seems to have no ending even as the three-match ODI series concluded on Sunday. Shaheen Afridi and co. have lodged an official complaint over Bangladesh taking a review off the penultimate ball of the run-chase in the BAN vs PAK 3rd ODI. Bangladesh won the game by 11 runs and clinched the series 2-1 to start their ODI World Cup preparations on the right foot.

Pakistan lodge complaint against BAN after loss in 3rd ODI

As per ESPNCricinfo, Pakistan lodged a complaint with match referee Neeyamur Rashid over on-field umpire Kumar Dharamsena allowing Bangladesh to take a review for an LBW towards the end of the run-chase. The incident occurred in the penultimate delivery of the final over when Rishad Hossain was bowling to Shaheen Afridi. The umpire signalled it a wide but Bangladesh’s Litton Das and the bowler felt that there was a chance for an LBW.

While wides can’t be referred upstairs, Dharamsena allowed Bangladesh to take a review which did not go down well with Pakistan as they believe that BAN took the review after watching replays on the giant screen. An unhappy Afridi was seen having a word with the umpires as well but it did not matter as the wide call was overturned, with UltraEdge showing a clear spike as the ball went past the bat.

Pakistan are also understood to be aggrieved at the possibility Bangladesh were allowed to review outside the maximum 15 seconds within which such a decision must be made. No timer appeared on the broadcast, so whether Bangladesh reviewed in time could not be independently confirmed,” the report states.

The fuss over the review really does not matter as Afridi was dismissed off the very next delivery.
