With the Indian Premier League (IPL) knocking the doors now, it continues to be the biggest platform for global T20 talent. Like every season, franchises look for fresh overseas talent through the IPL auction, scouting players from leagues such as the Big Bash League (BBL), SA20, The Hundred, International League T20 (ILT20), and Major League Cricket (MLC), this year as well, several key international stars have emerged.

This year as well, attention has already turned to the overseas players likely to make their debut in IPL 2026. These new overseas players could bring unique skills, helping franchises strengthen their playing XI and maintain balance within the four overseas player rule. Let us take a closer look at five such players here.

5 Overseas players likely to make IPL debut in 2026

Ben Dwarshuis

Australian left-arm pacer Ben Dwarshuis, who initially went unsold in the initial round of IPL 2026 mini-auction, finally found a franchise in a late turnaround. Registering at his base price of INR 1 Crore, Dwarshuis finally found a franchise in Punjab Kings (PBKS), bagging INR 4.40 Crore in the accelerated round, thanks to his proven BBL career. However, the 31-year-old has been in IPL since 2018, but he is highly likely to make his IPL debut this year due to his ability to bowl in different dimensions, especially on slower surfaces.

Finn Allen

Widely regarded as one of the most destructive opening batters in modern-day T20 cricket, New Zealand’s Finn Allen is also set to make his IPL debut after being roped in by three-time champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the mini-auction. The wicketkeeper-batter brings fearless intent, lightning-quick footwork to showcase his strokeplay from the very start of the game. The 26-year-old, who boasts of a strike rate of over 176 in T20s, fits well in the KKR setup, who were targeting an aggressive opener who aims to capitalises of the powerplay and also serves the role of a wicketing cover.

Moreover, with his recent beast mode on showcase in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in India, especially his unbeaten 100 off 33 deliveries, is sure to earn him a spot in the KKR Playing XI.

Pathum Nissanka

Sri Lankan opening batter Pathum Nissanka achieved a major milestone in his career after being roped in by Delhi Capitals (DC) at the IPL 2026 mini-auction for a price of INR 4 Crore. The Sri Lankan international is sure to make the most of his first-ever IPL contract as he remains one of the most consistent performers in international cricket over past two years.

In T20Is in 2025, Nissanka was sensational, accumulating 976 runs in 26 innins at a strike rate of over 160.  With his aggressive batting style and strong form, Nissanka is set to strengthen DC’s top order and provide quick starts, especially in a demanding league like the IPL.

Jordan Cox

Another interesting name in the list of players set to make their IPL debut is England wicketkeeper-batter Jordan Cox, who found his home in Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). While the England international went unsold in the initial rounds, but RCB acquired him in order to add to the role of domestic-style overseas utility option at INR 75 Lakh. While his signing remains to be a low-risk depth one, but with Cox bringing the ability to keep wickets and bat aggressively in the middle-order, he serves in as a backup option in a key tournament and is sure to get a game or two to test his abilities.

Blessing Muzarabani

Just days ago, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) announced Zimbabwe’s leading pacer Blessing Muzarabani as a replacement of Mustafizur Rahman. The 6 ft 8” right-arm quick is set to make his IPL debut with the Knight Riders, especially after Harshit Rana’s absence, who will miss the upcoming edition due to an injury. Moreover, the 29-year-old is set to feature in the XI, especially seeing his recent run in T20Is during Zimbabwe’s eventful T20 World Cup 2026, where he picked 13 wickets in 6 matches at an economy of 7.89.
