In what could be a blow for India cricket team, Nitish Kumar Reddy has sustained an injury, casting aspersions over his availability for the IND vs AUS T20Is. The all-rounder, who made his debut in the IND vs AUS 1st ODI in Perth, featured in back-to-back games in Australia, both of which India lost. With the T20I series scheduled to begin from October 29, Reddy will be racing against time to be fit.
Nitish Reddy injured
Taking to social media platform X, the BCCI informed that Nitish had sustained a left quadriceps during the IND vs AUS 2nd ODI in Adelaide. He was subsequently unavailable for selection in the 3rd ODI. The BCCI informed that the all-rounder is being monitored by the medical team on a daily basis, while remaining tight-lipped on his recovery timeframe.
Reddy impressed in his very first ODI, playing a handy 19-run cameo that helped India reach a face-saving total. The all-rounder showed promising signs with the bat, especially while filling in for an injured Hardik Pandya.
However, his inclusion in the playing XI for the 1st and 2nd ODI was majorly to increase India’s batting depth. With the ball, he was used for a combined 5.1 overs across two matches.
