In a lucky break for Team India, Nitish Kumar Reddy won’t be sidelined for too long. The all-rounder couldn’t take the field in Sydney due to a left quadriceps injury. This update casts a shadow on Nitish’s availability for the India vs Australia T20I series, starting October 29 at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.
“Nitish Kumar Reddy sustained a left quadriceps injury during the second ODI in Adelaide and was subsequently unavailable for selection for the third ODI. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring him on a daily basis,” the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had updated.
Nitish Kumar Reddy injury update
According to Cricbuzz, Nitish’s injury isn’t serious. The pace-bowling all-rounder will continue to travel with the team for the 5-match T20I series. At this moment, it isn’t certain whether Nitish will play the first T20I, but the management is optimistic that he’ll be fit for selection for the remainder of the series.
Nitish himself was playing the ODI and T20I series as a replacement for Hardik Pandya, who had also suffered a quadriceps injury. If the 22-year-old isn’t fit for selection, it’ll be fascinating to see who the BCCI names as his replacement since there aren’t many pace-bowling all-rounders available in India.
