The three T20Is between New Zealand will be played on October 1, 3 and 4 at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.

The much-anticipated Chappell-Hadlee T20I series gets underway on Wednesday, October 1, with New Zealand hosting Australia at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. Both teams are treating this as a crucial dress rehearsal for the T20 World Cup scheduled in India and Sri Lanka next year. Michael Bracewell will be leading a depleted New Zealand side, while Mitchell Marsh’s Australia arrive in Tauranga with strong form but a few setbacks of their own.

New Zealand vs Australia Team News

New Zealand have been dealt a blow with the absence of Rachin Ravindra, who suffered a nasty facial laceration during fielding practice after colliding with a boundary hoarding. The young allrounder required stitches and has been ruled out of the series, with Jimmy Neesham drafted in as his replacement. The hosts are also missing regular names like Kane Williamson, Mitchell Santner, Finn Allen, Adam Milne and Lockie Ferguson, which puts extra responsibility on the likes of Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell.

Australia too have their share of troubles. Glenn Maxwell has been ruled out after fracturing his arm during training, while this series also marks their first T20I outing since Mitchell Starc’s retirement. Still, with Tim David, Travis Head, and Josh Hazlewood in form, the visitors remain formidable opponents.
