Mohsin Naqvi is India's 12th player! PCB chairman 'putting pressure on Pakistan' before Asia Cup final

Mohsin Naqvi has reportedly told Pakistan players that he'll handle everything, and they can do anything they wish to do against India on the field.

If Pakistan loses the 2025 Asia Cup final, who would be the biggest culprit behind their loss? According to former Indian cricketer Atul Wassan, it’ll be the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

PCB chairman, helping Team India?

Wassan believes that Naqvi has been putting pressure on Pakistan players by getting involved in matters. Since the handshake incident, the PCB Chairman has been stationed in Dubai. He’s been spotted at their practice sessions and has reportedly given them a free hand to act however they wish against India in the Asia Cup final.

“It’s good to see Pakistan reach the final. From India’s players’ point of view, it doesn’t put as much pressure on India as it would on Pakistan. India is playing with 12 players. One of our 12 players is Mohsin Naqvi, who is putting pressure on the Pakistan players,” Wassan told ANI.

Naqvi is virtually aiding Pakistan players to cross the courtesy line. The ICC has fined Haris Rauf for his gesture on September 21. Although the PCB has appealed against the decision, in case it’s upheld, Naqvi has assured Haris that he’ll pay the fine out of his pocket.

When the focus should be on sports, Naqvi is making the matter political. This isn’t shocking, as he’s Pakistan’s interior minister. In doing so, he’s probably doing more harm than good for the Pakistan team. We saw this in the last India match, as several Pakistan players seemed more invested in theatrics than cricket itself.

“He’s hovering around the team; he’s there at the practice sessions. I think that’ll work against Pakistan. He brings a lot of backstory into the match. If Pakistani players can just focus on the game and the excess baggage, they will do well,” he added.
