IPL’s highest-buy Mitchell Starc revealed an eye-opening fact that was pointed out by teammate Angkrish Raghuvanshi over the prize money for the tournament winners. Shortly after KKR lifted their 3rd title earlier in May, young Raghuvanshi had made a comparison between the Aussie’s salary and the Rs 20 cr prize money that the team received.
Starc’s IPL salary – Rs 24.75 cr – outweighed the prize money offered to the winners, something that the young KKR star reportedly pointed out to Starc after the IPL title victory.
Mitchell Starc’s salary > IPL prize money?
On a podcast with Willow Talk, Starc revealed that Angkrish had made a stunning comparsion between Starc’s salary and the team’s prize money. The Aussie revealed that while the team was handed the cheque, Raghuvanshi had remarked that the amount wasn’t even equal to what Starc was getting paid as a player.
Further, Starc recounted that the presentation ceremony had only commenced post midnight and that it had killed the ‘vibe’ of the entire team after their historic victory in the IPL 2024 finals.
Mitchell Starc created history at the IPL 2024 auction after he pipped fellow Aussie Pat Cummins to become the highest-paid player in the league. KKR broke the bank to bag the ace speedster for Rs 24.75 cr. Incidentally, the prize money for the T20 World Cup winners (from the ICC) is also lesser than what Starc earns from the IPL, as it amounts to the same Rs 20 cr.
