The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini auction is scheduled to start at 2:30 PM IST on December 16 in Abu Dhabi.

The upcoming 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction will see roughly 350 players go under the hammer. It is a much smaller pool than the 1,355 players who initially registered. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) trimmed the numbers after consultations with the franchises, and the final list now features 35 new names not present in the original registration sheet.

Auction 2026: IPL teams ask for Quinton de Kock

As per Cricbuzz, one of the biggest surprises among the late additions is Quinton de Kock. The South African wicket-keeper batter, released by his previous franchise after a tough season, was not in the original list but reportedly added at the request of a franchise.

De Kock, who reversed his decision to retire recently, could be in demand, as there aren’t many IPL-level experienced keeping options in the market. His century in the 3rd ODI against India in Vizag would’ve certainly raised his stocks. He’s slotted among the wicketkeeper-batter lot for the auction, with a base price of ₹1 crore. It is half of what it was at the previous mega auction.

IPL auction: Slots, Date, Timings

As we all know, the auction will be held on December 16 in Abu Dhabi, beginning at 1 PM UAE time (2:30 PM IST), at Etihad Arena. The bidding will begin with capped players, including batters, all-rounders, wicket-keeper batters, fast bowlers, and spinners. It will be followed by a full round of uncapped players. After the first 70 names are presented, the BCCI will move to an accelerated process for the remaining 71–350 names. This means that there won’t be any marquee list this time around.

The first accelerated will cover all the players from 71-350. Once these players have been presented, franchises will be requested to submit the names of the players (unpresented and unsold) from all those on the full list of 350 for further accelerated presentation,” the BCCI said in a mail to the IPL franchises.

Notably, among the first-lot batters expected to attract heavy demand are Cameron Green, Devon Conway, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Sarfaraz Khan, Prithvi Shaw, and David Miller. Meanwhile, former franchise favourites like Venkatesh Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi remain on the registered list, with both carrying the maximum base price for Indian players at Rs 2 crore. It is pertinent to point out that there are 77 slots to be filled, including 31 overseas positions, across the teams.
