Marco Jansen is surely South Africa's most valuable player in the IND vs SA 2nd Test with his 93 with the bat and his 4th fifer in Tests

South Africa cricket team star Marco Jansen is on a roll! After scoring a 93-run knock in the 1st innings of the IND vs SA 2nd Test, the pacer went on to take his fourth five-wicket haul in Tests, leaving India reeling in a perilous position. Jansen has arguably been the standout performer so far for the Proteas in the 2nd Test in Guwahati and has once again proved why he is one of the best in the business.

Jansen headlines SA’s show with 93 and fifer

Kuldeep Yadav, who put up a strong fight against South African bowlers amid a collapse, was Jansen’s fifth victim on Day 3 as he was caught out by Aiden Markram. Jansen struck in his second over with the new ball which was taken in the 80th over. The South African pacer did bulk of the damage to the Indian batting line-up on Monday by getting rid of Rishabh Pant, Dhruv Jurel, Ravindra Jadeja and Nitish Kumar Reddy. The five-wicket haul marked Jansen’s second outside South Africa and his first in India.

Jansen hammered the final nail in the coffin as he got rid of Jasprit Bumrah to bowl out India for 201 runs. Temba Bavuma decided against enforcing a follow-on, which means South Africa will now bat again. Jansen finished with figures of 6/48.

Earlier in the 1st innings, Jansen narrowly missed out on what would have been a well-deserved hundred. He registered his highest Test score, amassing 93 runs off 91 deliveries. He struck 7 sixes and 6 fours, taking the Indian bowlers to the cleaners and frustrating the hosts. Along with the other tailenders, Jansen contributed 264 runs to South Africa’s 489-run 1st innings total, putting the Proteas firmly in the driver’s seat.
