WPL 2026, GG vs UPW: Gujarat Giants win by 10 runs

An easy victory in the end for the Gujarat Giants. The match was pretty much over after Phoebe Litchfield departed. They move on top of the WPL 2026 points table.

That's the end of UP's hopes. Sophie Devine gets Litchfield's wicket. The southpaw ends up scoring 78 from 40. 

It's upto Dottin and Sophie Eccelstone now.

Shweta Sehrawat's cameo comes to an end. Rajeshwari Gayakwad gets her wicket in her first over.

Deandra Dottin has joined Litchfield in the middle.

Phoebe Litchfield has deposited 2 sixes in the 13th over and UP are back in it. We are witnessing one of the best T20 knocks you'll ever see. She's scored nearly 60% of her team's run. A proper carry job.

An exceptional innings from Litchfield. Everyone barring her has struggled. The team's scored 102 runs in 66 balls, out of which 50 have come off her bat from just 24 balls.

Georgia Wareham has ended UP's momentum. She's taken the wickets of Meg Lanning and Harleen Deol in the space of 3 balls. The leggie pinned Lanning in front of the wicket and took a sharp catch to dismiss Deol.

While Meg Lanning struggles, Phoebe Litchfield has raced off the blocks. She's scored 23 (12) already. UP would like for her to continue.

Meg Lanning has started to find the middle off her bat. Phoebe Litchfield has joined her and the duo will look to maximise the powerplay.

Good start by Renuka Singh Thakur. After bowling a couple of dots, she clean bowls Kiran Navgire. A big hopping inswinger that hits the middle stump. GG off to a flying start.

There you go. The first innings has finally come to an end. GG end with 207/4, with Wareham scoring 27 from 9 deliveries only, in the end.

UPW pick up 4th wicket now. Ash Gardener Tries to go for a big one, but is castled by Sophie Ecclestone.

After a brilliant innings, Anushka Sharma might have gained a few admirers. The youngster in her debut WPL match, goes on to score 44 from 30 and is out on the bowling of Dottin.

What an innings this has been from Ash Gardener. She had started a little slowly, but now has brought up 30-ball 50.

WHo would say that this is the debut match for Anushka Sharma.. She could very well go on to score a fifty, and on the other hand, Gardender is just picking up the pace.

The partnership seems to be going strong at the moment. UPW need a wicket here desperately.

A new kid seems to be making her mark here. Anushka Sharma is batting well with Ash Gardener and has scored 23 from 16.

Asha Shobhana comes into the attack now. It is a tidy over and a wicket or two can really push the opposition on the back foot.

Shikha Pandey was leaking a few boundaries to Devine, but somehow she manages to remove Devine for 38. Played on the leg side, the batter is caight well by Phoebe Litchfield.

And Sophie Ecclestone picks up a wicket in the very first over. She bowls one outside the off stump, and Mooney misses. She is bowled.

It is for the second time that Devine manages to get a six and a four in the same over. She is going quite well now. Deepti Sharma doesn't start well.

Third change in third over by Lanning. Dottin comes into the attack and is greeted by a boundary.

Shikha Pandey starts from the other end. It is not a great start by her as she is hit for a six and a four by Devine. Next over she will have to come back stronger.

Kranti Gaud starts for UPW, and Devine and Mooney start for GG. It is a good start by the young Indian bowler here and she doesn't give anything away.

So, Meg Lanning has won the toss in her very first encounter as UPW skipper and opted to bowl.

One needs to watch out for G Trisha. She is also from that bunch of girls who won the U19 T20 World Cup last year. G Kamalini had shown her prowess yesterday, and it is time for Trisha now.

Meanwhile, after leading the side to three finals, Meg Lanning would lead a new team, UPW. They have a balanced side and the biggest positive will be, they have Deepti Sharma in their ranks too. Hopefully they can create some magic.

The toss is half an hour away, and since it is an afternoon game, it is a no-brainer that the teams should be looking to bat first.
